The origin of the name L'Ampolla ('bottle' in Catalan) comes from the former shape of the mouth of the River Ebro. In fact, all the features of the Delta have played a role in creating the character of this town: the sea, the bay, the water, the land, the dunes, etc. It is a mixture of Mediterranean essences, alternating between flat alluvial land and craggy coast; between mud and rocks; olive trees and rice fields; between marl rocky banks and lagoons...

You can find everything in our town. The sea, the land and the river create landscapes so diverse that the Mediterranean pears enviously over the Bay of Fangar, contemplating the visions that each new day brings. Just like the bay, the edges between one feature and another blend together.... in fact, who can really say where the sea, the river or the land, or even you and I, begin or end?
